What is Hypnotherapy?

On a daily basis we are functioning with the conscious part of our mind. Imagine a car, the conscious mind is the front seat driver and the unconscious mind is the back seat driver. When the back seat driver isn’t aligned with the front seat driver, they aren’t on the same page and that’s when some of the above concerns and more can appear.

We enter a hypnotic state on a daily basis when we are driving and can’t recall getting to our destination or when we are watching TV. Hypnosis is when we enter a more relaxed or even day dreamy kind of state. This state, commonly known as Alpha or Theta state, enables us to work specifically with the unconscious mind.

When we enter the Alpha/Theta state, we can bypass the conscious mind and rapidly accept the positive suggestions and new blueprint we want; thus creating rapid, real long-term change, good health and well-being because both parts of the mind are functioning from the same page. The unconscious mind (back seat driver) and conscious mind (front seat driver) both work collaboratively and in unison with each other.

Hypnotherapy can also attribute to good health by boosting the immune system. The unconscious mind is responsible for maintaining good health in the body and all autonomic processes such as the nervous system etc. Hypnotherapy allows the nervous system a well-deserved rest, thus boosting the immune system, almost as if you’ve been on holiday, or had a long rest.

About Hypnotherapy:

Hypnotherapy is increasingly becoming a credible solution to many problems, with more and more research becoming available that shows just how effective it really is. Hypnosis induces a state of deep relaxation, during which our unconscious minds are highly receptive to new or alternative perspectives and ideas.

Think of an iceberg floating in the water, the tip of the iceberg is the conscious mind. This is responsible for your awareness, attention and decision-making processes.

Just underneath the water lies the subconscious part of your mind, often described as the bridge to the unconscious. This is responsible for your nervous system, holds your beliefs as well as your memory bank.

The other 89% of your mind is deep under the water and can’t be seen as it’s at the very bottom of the iceberg. This is the unconscious part of your mind and this part controls how you automatically meet your needs and desires, guides your thoughts, feelings, behaviours as well as being your creative source.

When you learn to trust your unconscious mind completely, you feel a rise in your emotion and energy levels. Here you can feel more positive, engaged, connected, more excited about yourself, your relationships and what you are creating in your life.

Hypnosis is a naturally occurring phenomenon used widely throughout the world by many professionals such as doctors, dentists, psychologists and psychotherapists. Often it’s referred to as "trance" but simply put, it’s a way to communicate with the problem solving part of the mind.

If you think trance is a mystical magical mind control state, where the recipient is unconscious, asleep or has had their mind "taken over", you would be totally wrong, there is no truth in this whatsoever. You are in complete control at all times, hypnotherapists facilitate the process and the rest is up to you and your mind to take it on, hence the varying level of results.

When used with psychotherapeutic techniques and suggestion, hypnosis can be a very effective form of treatment in the management of many physical, psychological and emotional concerns.

The largest ever study into methods of quitting smoking published in New Scientist magazine involved 6000 smokers and showed that hypnotherapy is by far, the most effective way to quit smoking.

What can I Expect in Hypnotherapy?

At Inscape, we understand that it can feel scary if you haven’t had hypnosis before but please be aware that there is nothing to be scared of at all, you are in safe hands! If you have any nagging doubts, thoughts or fears, please voice them so they can be discussed to put your mind at ease. No thoughts, questions or concerns are too silly. I’ve had all sorts of questions and I consider not one of them to be too silly, so please feel free to say whatever you’re thinking.

Most people report during hypnosis the feeling of calm stillness, lightness or heaviness, very relaxed, even when they aren’t used to relaxing. You can hear everything that’s being said but you just can’t be bothered to move, the sounds just drift into the background as you drift in and out of paying attention, enjoying the pleasant sensations you experience.

Clients have also reported that it’s much like that blissful moment before you drift of to sleep or when you’re relaxing on holiday.

Only changes you wish can be made as your unconscious mind chooses what it wishes to use, how and when. Even when you aren’t listening, your powerful unconscious/subconscious always protects you, deciding what it likes and doesn’t like, what it wants to use and not use, hence why it’s a completely unique process to each individual.

You are in complete control at all times and can open your eyes at any time if you wish. In conjunction with your session, you will receive an audio recording that you’re encouraged to listen to, to assist you in creating even stronger neural pathways to further enhance desired change and overall wellbeing.

Some people notice immediate and substantial positive changes whilst others notice changes bit by bit over a period of time in how they behave, think and feel in life, about themselves, their environment, their relationships, how they’ve handled situations differently and their mood in general. Almost like a big bag of flour being poured into a sieve and gently sieving through. Your mind will work at its own pace, in its own time and in its own way.

You're provided with a very personalised service, starting with a FREE 15 minute, obligation free, phone consultation, here you can ask any questions you may have and allay any nagging doubts or fears.

If you are happy and wish to go ahead, we schedule an appointment for a full consultation and thorough assessment to pinpoint and personalise your specific requirements. From there we decide on the appropriate course of action depending on the outcome of your consultation.

Your first session is for 50 minutes. This enables me to ensure I have all the information to provide you with the appropriate tools and practical steps you need to help you feel fully supported in achieving your desired goal, along with the aim of helping you to feel more confident, motivated, in control, safe, secure and ready for the new you!

Each subsequent session is 50 minutes and any recordings you may require as part of the work are FREE. Sessions are a week apart and generally I work in blocks of 3. After 3 sessions we re-evaluate where you are in your process and from there we decide if further sessions are required. Some packages differ such as Weight Control and Stop Smoking.   • Sessions are payable a week in advance either by PayPal, cash, debit or credit card (fully secure card payment services).
  • 100% of the full session price will be charged in the event of client cancellation with less than one week's notice. This is to cover the clinician’s time and costs.
  • Clients and information discussed are completely confidential at all times. An exception to this would be if the client is deemed to be a danger to themselves or to others or if there are any legal reasons for disclosure.
